Master of Flags Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Master of Flags is a flag and capitals quiz for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch. It is open to children. It has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no account to create. Your quiz progress stays on your devices. The only things that reach our server are an anonymous Midgar ID and, when you buy Pro or leave a tip, the purchase record, and they are used only to restore and verify what you bought.

In short

Who we are

Master of Flags is published by Midgar Oy, a company in Finland. For the information described under The anonymous Midgar ID and Purchases below, Midgar Oy is the controller. You can reach us at support@midgarcorp.cc.

What the app stores on your device

Everything about how you play is kept in the app's private storage on your device, and in a storage area shared only with the app's own widgets and Apple Watch app. It is not uploaded to us. It includes your answer history, your Daily Challenge results and streak, your Smart Review schedule, your bookmarks, your points and levels, and your settings, such as reminder time, appearance and app icon. In Settings, Privacy, you can see what is stored and erase your progress on that device.

iCloud and Game Center

If iCloud is on, your streak, bookmarks and settings sync between your own devices through your iCloud account. That is Apple's service, under Apple's terms, and we never receive the data. If you are signed in to Game Center, the app reports scores and achievements to Apple, which shows them under your Game Center settings. Opening a Game Center screen asks a grown-up first.

The anonymous Midgar ID

The first time the app starts, it asks our server for an anonymous Midgar ID: a random identifier, and a random secret that proves the ID is yours. The server keeps the ID, a hash of the secret and the date it was created. The app keeps the ID and the secret in your iCloud Keychain, so that the same ID follows you across your own devices and across Midgar's other apps. There is no name, email address, phone number, location or device name in it, and it cannot be traced to you without your devices. The ID is used only to tie your purchases to you. On Apple Watch the app holds no Midgar ID and sends nothing to our server.

Purchases

Pro is a one-time purchase and the Tip Jar sells optional tips, both through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple handles payment and billing, and we never receive your card details or your Apple Account details. When a purchase is verified, the app sends Midgar's server the signed transaction record from Apple: which product, the price, the dates, the order identifiers, your App Store country and the Midgar ID. Our server uses it to confirm whether Pro is unlocked and to restore it on your other devices and after a reinstall. We keep it for as long as it is needed for that and as Apple's financial records require. Restoring a purchase also works without our server, through Apple.

Midgar's server runs on Cloudflare, which may keep standard request logs such as your IP address for a limited time. We do not use them for anything else.

Children

Master of Flags is in the Apple Kids Category and is designed for children. We do not ask for or collect a child's name, email address, location or any other personal information. The anonymous Midgar ID and the purchase record are used only to provide what was bought, which is support for the internal operations of the app. Every purchase, every link out of the app, every share and every Game Center screen asks a grown-up first through a parental gate. There are no ads, no social features and no way to contact other players.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data, show advertising, use advertising identifiers or third-party tracking, or run analytics software in the app. The app does not ask for tracking permission. We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not share the Midgar ID or purchase records with any third party.

Midgar may publish aggregate statistics built from anonymous counts, such as weekly active installs, which never identify a person; Master of Flags sends no usage counts, so it adds nothing to them.

How long we keep data

Deleting your data

In Settings, Privacy, "Delete all progress" erases your quiz progress on that device. The app does not yet have a button that deletes the Midgar ID. To have your Midgar ID and the purchase records linked to it deleted from our server, email support@midgarcorp.cc from any address, tell us the app and the approximate date of your first purchase, and we will help you do it. We delete the server records, but we cannot change Apple's own records, and we cannot cancel or refund a purchase: do that through Apple. Data in your iCloud is yours and is managed in iOS or macOS Settings.

Your rights

Because we keep very little information about you, most requests are answered by the controls above. Where privacy law, such as the GDPR or COPPA, gives you or your child's parent rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or move information, or to object to its use, contact us and we will help. We process the Midgar ID and purchase records to provide and support what you buy. You may complain to your local data protection authority; in Finland that is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

Changes

If this policy changes we will publish the new version here with a new date, and mention material changes in the app's release notes.
