What Tailscode does

Tailscode is a native iOS remote for Claude Code and opencode running on your own machines. Send a prompt from anywhere, pocket your phone, and watch the turn finish on your Lock Screen — point-to-point over your tailnet, no relay, no account.

A real client, not a web view

Programmatic UIKit and Swift 6 end to end. Streaming transcripts with collapsible thinking and tool groups, syntax-highlighted code with byte-exact copy, Liquid Glass on iOS 26, and ten languages. Hold Send and Apple's on-device model sharpens your prompt without it leaving the phone.

Two agents, one app

Drive opencode directly, and Claude Code through claude-bridge — the open-source companion server that turns claude into structured, streaming, subscription-backed sessions.

Lock Screen status board

A Live Activity per session shows the phase, elapsed time, and tool counts in real time. Approvals alert you, finished turns linger with the outcome, and updates arrive by push even while the app is suspended.

Steer without stopping

Queue a follow-up while the agent works, edit it before it lands, stop the turn server-side, fork the conversation, or answer the agent's structured questions with a tap. Subagents open in place; a compaction becomes a seam you can read instead of a wall of summary.

Every machine, one list

Sessions from all your servers in one place with live status. Discover agent servers on your tailnet with an API token, and start chats in any project directory with the built-in file browser.

Usage you can trust

Live Claude plan gauges straight from your own bridge, Grok quotas, and opencode cost estimates — session, weekly, and per-model, with reset countdowns.

How Tailscode works

  1. Run an agent server

On the machine where you code: opencode serve, or claude-bridge in front of Claude Code. Both are open source and take minutes to set up.

  2. Join the same tailnet

Install Tailscale on your phone and your machine — free for personal use. Your devices see each other directly; nothing transits anyone else's servers.

  3. Connect and go

Paste an address or let Tailscode discover your servers. Send a prompt, pocket your phone, and follow the turn from your Lock Screen.

About Tailscode

Tailscode turns your iPhone into the remote control for the coding agents already running on your machines. Send a prompt from anywhere, pocket your phone, and watch the turn finish on your Lock Screen.

It connects point-to-point over your own Tailscale network. No relay servers, no account, no analytics, no middleman reading your code.

WORKS WITH YOUR AGENTS

• opencode — connect straight to opencode serve and drive any provider you have configured.

• Claude Code — via claude-bridge, the open-source companion server that turns Claude Code into structured streaming sessions backed by your subscription.

A LIVE, NATIVE TRANSCRIPT

• Real-time streaming with collapsible thinking and tool-activity groups.

• Syntax-highlighted code blocks with one-tap, byte-exact copy.

• Inline permission approvals — Allow once, Always, or Deny without leaving the chat.

• Agent questions rendered as tappable option cards.

• Steer mid-turn: queue a follow-up while the agent works, edit it before it lands, or stop the turn server-side.

• Slash-command palette, per-message model and reasoning-effort overrides, conversation forking, session cost meters.

YOUR LOCK SCREEN IS THE STATUS BOARD

• A Live Activity per session: phase, elapsed time, and tool counts in real time — thinking, running a tool, writing, or awaiting your approval.

• Approval requests alert you; finished turns linger with the outcome.

• Tap to deep-link into the exact chat. Updates arrive by push even while the app is suspended.

BUILT FOR MULTIPLE MACHINES

• One session list across all your servers, grouped by machine, with live status.

• Tailnet discovery: paste a Tailscale API token and Tailscode finds the agent servers on your devices.

• Server-side file browser to start a chat in any project directory.

• Health checks, auto-reconnect, offline banners.

• Live usage gauges: Claude plan limits, Grok quotas, opencode cost estimates.

NATIVE TO THE CORE

• Programmatic UIKit, Swift 6, zero web views. Liquid Glass on iOS 26.

• Dark mode, Dynamic Type, haptics.

• Open source under GPL-3.0 — the app, the engine, and the bridge.

FREE, WITH AN HONEST PRO

The free app is the complete core: one server, full chat, permissions, attachments, models, forking, and Live Activities. Tailscode Pro — a one-time purchase, no subscription — adds multiple saved servers, concurrent Live Activities, and a supporter badge.

TRY IT BEFORE YOU WIRE ANYTHING

A built-in demo lets you explore every screen with sample sessions — no server needed.

REQUIREMENTS

A computer on your Tailscale network (free for personal use) running opencode or Claude Code via claude-bridge. Tailscode is independent open-source software: not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic, Tailscale Inc., or the opencode project.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own server?

Yes — that's the point. Tailscode is a remote for agents running on hardware you control. There is no middleman cloud, which means no relay fees, no data sharing, and no vendor outage between you and your code. A built-in demo lets you explore the full app before wiring anything.

Which coding agents does it support?

opencode natively (any provider you've configured in it), and Claude Code through claude-bridge, an open-source Swift server that exposes Claude Code as structured streaming sessions backed by your Claude subscription.

Does my code pass through anyone's cloud?

No. The app talks directly to your machines over your WireGuard-encrypted Tailscale network. No relay server, no account with us, no analytics, no tracking. The privacy policy is one sentence long in spirit: we collect nothing.

How do Live Activities update when the app is closed?

claude-bridge can push Live Activity updates over APNs, so the Lock Screen keeps ticking — phase, elapsed time, tool counts — even while the app is suspended. Approval requests fire an alert you can act on.

What does Pro add?

Tailscode Pro is a one-time $14.99 unlock for multiple saved servers, concurrent Live Activities, and a supporter badge. The free app is the complete core — full chat, permissions, attachments, models, forking — forever, with one server.

Is it really open source?

All of it, under GPL-3.0: the app (Tailscode), the engine (CodingAgentKit, a Swift 6 package that also runs on Linux), and the bridge (claude-bridge). Build it yourself or grab it from the App Store.

Can I try it without a server?

Yes. Tap 'Try the demo' on the first screen: two sample servers with realistic sessions let you explore streaming, approvals, questions, usage gauges, and the file browser — no tailnet needed.

Your agent is already working. Watch it from anywhere.

Free and open source under GPL-3.0. Pro unlocks unlimited servers and concurrent Live Activities for $14.99, one time.
